About Regenerative Island Futures Fiji
Our History
Regenerative Island Futures Fiji was founded in 2005 by a group of mental health professionals who saw a need for more accessible mental health resources in our community.
Our Team
"Our team brings a deep well of lived, on-the-ground experience in regenerative tourism from right here in Vanua Levu — including a pioneer regenerative resort owner from Macuata, whose property has spent decades proving that tourism and ecological restoration can grow together, and a thriving community-based tourism enterprise in Cakaudrove that shows what genuinely inclusive, locally-owned tourism looks like in practice. Alongside them, our network includes several other individuals who now call Vanua Levu home, each having spent 30 to 40 years shaping tourism development across Fiji through resort operations, community engagement, and conservation partnerships. This is the expertise we're drawing on for RIFFIJI: over the next three years, our role is to translate that decades-deep, place-based knowledge into practical regenerative food production and ecotourism models that Nukubati Resort and future partner operators can adopt, adapt, and sustain long after the project ends."

Regenerative Island Futures: unlocking sustainable food-system opportunities for ecotourism in SIDS
Our First Project
This is where it all begins. Regenerative Island Futures Fiji is proud to support the launch of a landmark three-year initiative bringing regenerative food systems to island ecotourism — piloted right here in Fiji, on the shores of Vanua Levu. Running from August 2026 to March 2029, the project tests how small island destinations can build climate-resilient, community-owned food systems that strengthen both local livelihoods and the visitor experience.
